Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga and Elementary school Središče ob Dravi Slovenia kindly invite middle school debaters and coaches, judges to participate at the THIRD INTERNATIONAL MIDDLE SCHOOL DEBATE TOURNAMENT SLOVENIA, which will happen on March 18th and 19th 2011 in Središče ob Dravi, Slovenia. We would really love you to come!
Basic information:
For the debaters aged 11 to 14, 6th to 9th grade Teams should be accompanied by at least one judge per two teams.
Debate format: Karl Popper, 3 persons team, cross examination, first speeches are 5 minutes, second and third 4 minutes, cross examination 2 minutes, preparation time 10 minutes per team
Tournament will be power paired, 5 debate rounds – 3 on the prepared motions and two on the »impromptu«, semi-finals and finals. Tournament will start on Friday at 13.00 and finishes on Saturday late afternoon. Tournament schedule attached.

»City centers should be closed for cars.«
Accomodation: Debaters and coaches, judges can be accomodated in home stays or in Hotel Ormož in Ormož, which is 12 km away from the Središče ob Dravi. The transport from the hotel to the school will be provided.
Registration fee:
– 40 EUR for the ones who will be in home stays, it covers the tournament/food/transport costs from Thursday evening to Sunday morning;
– 100 EUR for the ones who want to be in Hotel Ormož, it covers 3 nights – Thursday, Friday, Saturday accomodation and breakfast in Hotel Ormož and tournament costs.
Registration fee should be paid in cash upon arrival or paid via bank transfer, if you prefer it – contact us for the bank details.
Arrival/Departures: We do expect teams from other countries to arrive on Thursday and leave on Sunday. However, if some teams would like to come earlier, you are more than welcome to come. You will be guests of middle school debate clubs, visiting their schools, participating in debates at the school as the preparation for the tournament. Your host will also make sure you will have some time for sightseeing and having great time. You will go to the tournament together with debaters from your host debate club..
